A Gweru man who reportedly brutally murdered his wife and left their six-month-old son suckling from the corpse has been placed on the International Police Organisation (Interpol) most wanted list for evading arrest after committing the crime.

Tanaka Rusike, 33, who has been on the run since December 2017, is wanted for allegedly killing his spouse, Nozipho Tecla Mpofu, in cold blood and leaving their child suckling and cuddling his mother’s corpse for nearly 24 hours before the crime was discovered.
Alert neighbors discovered the child beside his mother’s lifeless body after he started crying the following morning.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi told The Sunday Mail that Rusike has been on the run for more than three years.
“I can confirm that Tanaka Rusike of Gweru is on the Red Notice list. He is wanted in connection with a murder case involving his wife which took place in 2017.”
Rusike is among seven Zimbabweans who have been placed on the International Police Organisation (Interpol) most wanted list for evading arrest after allegedly committing serious offenses.
The seven are among 7 600 criminals who have been placed on Interpol’s Red Notice and are wanted for committing offenses ranging from terrorism, corruption, human trafficking, and escaping lawful custody.
A Red Notice is a request to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.
Interpol is the world’s largest international police organization, with 190 member countries, including Zimbabwe, whose work includes facilitating cross-border collaboration between law enforcement organizations.
