O’Neal was the son of a drill serjeant in the military. With Kobe Bryant, he won three straight NBA championships after relocating to Los Angeles in 1996. After eight seasons of playing for Los Angeles, his team traded him to the Miami Heat. With the help of the talented guard Dwayne, he guided the Heat to the national championship in 2006. After a dismal season in 2009 with the Phoenix Suns, the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired him in a trade.
In August 2010, Shaq joined with the Boston Celtic and later announced his retirement. He was able to make $292 million in pay and sponsorships throughout the course of his 19-year career. In June 2011, he gave up playing. In addition to basketball, O’Neal released rap albums. They were Shaq Diesel (1993) and You Can’t Stop the Reign (1998).
O’Neal also made appearances in The Wash, Steel, Kazaam, and Blue Chips, among other movies. Shaq’s Big Challenge was his own “reality” programme that aired in 2007.
