Sheen had a small role in one of his father’s movies when he was nine years old, The Execution of Private Slovik, but his real acting career didn’t start until he portrayed Matt Eckhart in the Cold War drama Red Dawn in 1984. Sheen received his big break in 1986 when Oliver Stone’s Oscar-winning Vietnam drama Platoon cast him as Chris, a soldier with conscience, following several starring roles in made-for-TV movies and minor parts in more well-known feature films. In addition, he has appeared in humorous movies including Major League, the Hot Shots! series, Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4, and others during his career.
Sheen is well-known for his appearances on two sitcoms: Spin City’s Charlie Crawford and Two and a Half Men’s Charlie Harper. Sheen earned $1.25 million each episode of Two and a Half Men in 2010, making him the highest paid actor on television. When back end syndication points are taken into account, the value rises to $2 million. Sheen received a season’s worth of 24 episodes, or around $48 million annually, from the show. It may not have been a leap for the actor to play an affluent playboy, but it was certainly enjoyable. Sheen has five kids and has been married three times.
On March 7, 2011, CBS removed Sheen from “Two and a Half Men” as a result of Sheen’s Shocking Radio interviews. After Sheen’s replacement, Ashton Kutcher continued the ninth season.
