Back in 2016, a customer who was shopping for groceries in a supermarket found something weird on the store’s shelf and decided to find out why it was there in the first place and if it wasn’t a mistake.
You must be wondering what he found unusual on the store shelf. To cut the long story short, this customer found a cow urine bottle being sold in the store.
So, in India, those who practice Hinduism, believe in the power of cow urine. This sect believes that cow urine will give good health (anti-aging) and can cure all forms of illness, including cancer, diabetes, tuberculosis, and most recently, coronavirus.
Mr. Singhal, a Hindu priest in India claims that for the urine to be beneficial, it must come from a virgin cow and that it must also be collected just before the sun rises.
Since the cult started its practice, the number of people who have taken the chance of getting a taste of the urine has steadily risen.
According to Ramesh Gupta, a Hindu high priest, “Only two things are pure in this universe, in this world. One is the water from the holy Ganges river, and the other is urine from mother holy cow.”
There are, however, a growing number of critics that have taken notice of such practices. But Singhal said that “it is just a matter of time before people realize the utility of cow urine.”
Harish Raval, a priest at VHP Hindu Centre, Cleveland Road, Ilford, who have consumed the product and doesn’t think that it is unsafe or unhygienic. He believes there are medicinal benefits of using it.
“It’s a personal belief, if you have faith in God it’s safe,” he said.
“It’s used for health purposes and to purify places. Whenever we have prayers we sprinkle it.
“It purifies the soul, it’s like a divine bath – I have used it and I have drunk it myself, I don’t think it’s unsafe at all.”
In recent times, a Hindu group hosted a cow urine drinking party as they believe it wards off the coronavirus, as many Hindus consider the cow sacred and some drink cow urine believing it has medicinal properties.
However, experts asserted that cow urine does not cure illnesses like cancer and there is no evidence that it can prevent coronavirus.
